The University of California, Santa Cruz, and Foothill-De Anza Community College District announced today (March 13, 2009) that they have formed a dynamic new partnership with the National Aeronautics & Space Administration to establish a sustainable community for education and research at NASA's Research Park in Silicon Valley.
At the March 13 event, it was announced that UC Santa Cruz and Foothill-De Anza have formed a nonprofit entity called University Associates - Silicon Valley LLC, which has signed a land lease with NASA for 75 acres of land in the NASA Research Park at Moffett Field. University Associates plans to select and oversee a "master developer" who would attract the external capital investment required to complete the project.
On March 13, representatives from the partner institutions, elected officials, and other regional leaders celebrated the visionary collaboration during a luncheon at Moffet Field. Please see the event's commemorative brochure and a special announcement video that was shown to attendees.
